Club visit to Vergelegen - 26 August 2015

We visited the inspirational Vergelegen Gardens for a tour with horticulturist, Richard Arm.

The weather was cool and overcast which eventually warmed up.

Our walk started from the Stables Restaurant, through the most impressive veggie and herb garden maze and on to the new Children’s playground. We then proceeded along the Almond and Oak Avenue and did a brief walk through the beautiful Homestead garden and on through the Homestead itself, which has been extensively refurbished.

There are over 1000 Camellia bushes at Vergelegen and the garden has been recognised as an International Camellia Garden of Excellence by the International Camellia Society

Our sincere thanks to Richard for a most enjoyable ramble and who provided us with so many good stories and to Ann Strauss of the Stables Restaurant, who organized our delicious tea.
