Mushroom Hunt - Tokai forest - 25 May 2013
On Saturday 25th May, a group of nine garden club members set off into the Tokai forest with our
expert mushroom guide Felicity Grundlingh, to find as many mushrooms as possible to identify.

It had rained during the previous week, making conditions ideal for mushrooms to emerge on this warm day.

As some poisonous and edible mushrooms  belong to the same family and are easily confused, we learnt at the end of the day the message was not to pick unless with an expert at hand and just appreciate viewing them growing in their natural state.

After ambling through the forest, we found more than 12 species including the two most poisonous ones, the appropriately named Death Cap and the Fly Agaric.
